Koran Angelfish (Pomacanthus semicirculatus)

The Koran Angelfish, also known as the Semicircular Angelfish or Halfcircled Angelfish, is a highly popular and resilient species. In its adult form, the body displays a yellow-green color transitioning from light to dark along its length. Lighter areas are speckled-blue, while darker regions have a yellow-speckled appearance. The head is plain yellow-green with sapphire-blue gill margins and eye rings, and the fins are outlined in sapphire blue. As a juvenile, it appears black with white and blue stripes.

To thrive, the Koran Angelfish necessitates a tank of 250 gallons or more with ample live rock for hiding and grazing on slime algae and cyanobacteria. Due to its tendency to nip at stony and soft corals as well as clam mantles, it is not suitable for a reef aquarium.

A diverse diet, including Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, and mysis or frozen shrimp, should be provided at least three times a day.
