French Angelfish (Pomacanthus paru)

The French Angelfish stands out as a popular variety, featuring a dusky-blue face with yellow and white-rimmed eyes. Its dark dusky-blue body exhibits a dappled appearance due to yellow scale margins, while a yellow smudge highlights the pectoral fin and the gill cover sports a yellow rim.

For optimal care, a tank of 250 gallons or larger is recommended, with abundant live rock for hiding and grazing. Not suited for reef tanks, the French Angelfish tends to nip at sessile invertebrates (soft and stony corals) and clam mantles, often dominating the tank.

Their diet should encompass Spirulina, marine algae, occasional high-quality angelfish preparations with added sponge matter, and mysis or frozen shrimp, with feeding at least three times daily.

Sizes vary, with the Small Juvenile displaying juvenile colorations or potentially shifting to a young adult. The Medium is a sub-adult, and the Large showcases adult coloration.
