Potter’s Angelfish (Centropyge potteri)

The Potter’s Angelfish, also known as Potter’s Pygmy Angelfish, is native to the Hawaiian Islands and the Johnston Atoll. Its vibrant orange body is marbled with pale to dark blue, and the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins sport a dark blue-black hue. To thrive, it needs a well-established 70-gallon tank with hiding places and live rock for grazing, although caution is advised in a reef aquarium due to potential aggression towards soft corals and other sessile invertebrates. Being hermaphroditic, breeding is challenging, and there are no distinguishing features to identify males from females. Providing a diverse diet, including Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items, is essential for their well-being.
