Singapore Angelfish (Chaetodontoplus mesoleucus)

The Singapore Angelfish, also known as the Vermiculated Angelfish, exhibits a butterflyfish-like body structure with distinctive features. Blue lips transition to a black eye band resembling a mask, bordered by thin yellow and wider white vertical bands over the primarily black body. Brilliant sapphire-blue outlines the dorsal and anal fins, while the caudal fin is typically yellow but may be gray. Classified as “Difficult” due to varying acclimation, providing a tranquil aquarium with non-aggressive tank mates and ample hiding spots is recommended. A 120-gallon tank or larger, equipped with live rock for grazing, creates an optimal environment. Prone to nipping at corals, the Singapore Angelfish is hermaphroditic, challenging to breed, and lacks distinguishable color variations between male and female.

The diet should include mysis or finely shaved frozen shrimp and other meaty items.
