Multibar Angelfish (Paracentropyge multifasciata)

The Multibar Angel, also recognized as the Many Banded Angelfish and Multibarred Angelfish, showcases alternating black and yellow vertical bands with a slender white border along each black band. The tail presents a coloration ranging from white to yellow, adorned with small black speckles. Distinguishing features in juveniles include a blue eyespot at the rear of the dorsal fin.

To accommodate the Multibar Angel, a minimum tank size of 70 gallons is recommended, equipped with ample hiding spots and live rock for grazing. It is advisable to keep this angelfish as the sole species in the tank.

Like other dwarf angels, the Multibar Angel is hermaphroditic, challenging to breed, and lacks distinguishable color variations between males and females. This species can be particular about its diet, favoring a diverse selection of small meaty items, angelfish and herbivore preparations, and live sponges. Additionally, its tendency to become somewhat territorial upon acclimatization adds to the challenge of keeping this fish.

Approximate Purchase Size: Small 2″ to 3″; Medium 3″ to 4″; Large 4″ to 5″.
