Yellowfin Angelfish
Yellowfin Angelfish (Centropyge flavipectoralis)
The Yellowfin Angelfish, also known as the Moonbeam Angelfish, is recognized for its captivating appearance, featuring vibrant yellow pectoral fins set against a rich, dark brown body with metallic navy-blue vertical bars. Resembling moonbeams in a midnight sky, the striking contrast of colors becomes even more pronounced as the Yellowfin Angelfish gracefully swims.
For optimal care, provide a minimum 70-gallon tank with abundant hiding spots and live rock for grazing. It’s advisable to keep the Yellowfin Angelfish without other dwarf angelfish or visually similar species. Exercise caution when introducing it to a reef aquarium, as it may exhibit a tendency to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates). Being hermaphroditic, the Yellowfin Angelfish proves challenging to breed in captivity, with no distinguishable color differences between males and females.
To maintain a well-rounded diet, offer Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty options.
