Wide Bar Black Gladiator Clownfish
Wide Bar Black Gladiator Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)
The Wide Bar Black Gladiator Clownfish is a stunning new designer clownfish developed by Sea & Reef. This unique variety is derived from the Wide Bar Mocha Gladiator Ocellaris Clownfish, known for its notably broader white bars—nearly twice as wide as those on a typical Ocellaris Clownfish. By breeding the Wide Bar Mocha Gladiator with the super black Darwin Ocellaris Clownfish over several generations, Sea & Reef has created an all Black and White version of this captivating species. Like the Darwin Ocellaris, the Wide Bar Black Gladiator starts off with a more brownish hue, gradually darkening to a deep black as it matures. The last area to darken is around the mouth, usually when the fish reaches about 2 inches in length. The original Wide Bar Gladiator Ocellaris Clownfish was first bred by renowned fish breeder Bill Addison, the owner of C-Quest hatchery, who also named this designer clownfish.
