Banded Moray Eel (Echidna polyzona)

The Banded Moray Eel (Echidna polyzona), also known as the Barred Moray Eel, is a species best suited for experienced aquarists due to its challenging care requirements. It thrives in a well-established tank of at least 75 gallons, equipped with ample live rock, a thick sandy substrate (3-4 inches), and a tightly sealed lid to prevent escapes. While this eel can coexist with certain reef inhabitants, it may disturb sessile invertebrates and corals, making it reef-safe only with specific organisms. When feeding, exercise caution, as the Banded Moray Eel has poor eyesight and might accidentally nip at hands or fingers placed in the tank.
