Matted Filefish (Acreichthys tomentosus)

The Aiptasia-eating Filefish, also known as the Bristletail Filefish, Matted Leatherjacket, Tomentosus Filefish, or Matted Filefish, features a mottled pattern of green, brown, and tan. This shy fish is generally non-aggressive towards other species, except for members of its own genus. It thrives in aquariums of 30 gallons or larger, ideally without small invertebrates. This species is particularly valued for its ability to consume Aiptasia anemones, though it may also nip at both soft and stony corals. Its diet should include shaved shrimp, squid, scallops, mysis shrimp, freeze-dried krill soaked in a vitamin supplement, and frozen marine algae.
