Yellowfin Grouper (Mycteroperca venenosa)
Yellowfin groupers are colorful, predatory fish commonly found in the western Atlantic, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. Known for their distinctive yellow-tinted fins and blotched reddish-brown bodies, they typically inhabit coral reefs and rocky ledges. These groupers can grow up to three feet long and are prized both by commercial and recreational fishers for their firm, white meat and strong fighting ability.
The yellowfin grouper is also known by several other names, including (Mycteroperca venenosa), rockfish, carite, and yellowfin rock cod. In different regions, it may be referred to by varying local names, particularly in fishing communities.
