Blue Gudgeon Goby (Ptereleotris heteroptera)

The Blue Gudgeon Dartfish, also known as the Blacktail Goby or Blacktail Dartfish, hails from Fiji’s reefs. It features an elongated body with a pale blue or green hue and a distinctive black spot on its tail. Preferring to live in pairs, this fish is an excellent choice for both fish-only and reef aquariums. It requires a 30-gallon or larger tank with ample coral rubble, a sand bottom for burrowing, and plenty of swimming space. A secure lid is essential to prevent escape, as the fish might jump. Generally peaceful, it mainly feeds on suspended prey but will also forage on the substrate. Its diet should include mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, table shrimp, and carnivore frozen foods, with feedings recommended at least three times daily.
