Longnose Hawkfish (Oxycirrhites typus)

The Longnose Hawkfish features a striking white body adorned with red stripes running both horizontally and vertically. Known for its captivating personality, this fish is fascinating to observe and is the only Hawkfish species reported to have spawned in captivity. It thrives in a 30-gallon or larger aquarium, which should be equipped with a tight-fitting lid to prevent escapes. While the Longnose Hawkfish is a hardy and semi-aggressive species, it may be outcompeted by larger hawkfish. Although it preys on small fish and shrimp, it can be a great addition to a reef tank under the right conditions.
