Lantern Puffer (Canthigaster epilampra)
Canthigaster is a genus within the pufferfish family (Tetraodontidae). Fish from this genus are commonly known as “toby” or “sharpnose puffer,” with the term “toby” being widely used, especially in Australia.
This species is rarely found among rubble at depths greater than 50 feet. It is characterized by a white body with blue lines on the face and a dark blotch near the dorsal fin base. It grows up to 5 inches in length and is distributed from Indonesia to Okinawa, Hawai’i, and the Society Islands.
