Spotted Puffer (Central America) (Canthigaster punctatissima)

The Central American Sharpnose Puffer, also known as the Spotted Sharpnose Puffer, belongs to the Canthigaster genus, commonly referred to as Sharp-nosed Puffers or Tobies. This species is characterized by its yellowish-brown body adorned with white spots. Notably, it lacks pelvic fins but has adapted by using its pectoral fins for movement within the aquarium.A suitable habitat for this puffer is a fish-only aquarium of 50 gallons or more. It may consume invertebrates if housed in a reef tank. Its teeth are fused into a beak-like structure, which it uses to crush its prey. Parts of its flesh are toxic, and when threatened or stressed, such as when captured in a net, it can inflate its body to nearly double its normal size.
