One Spot Foxface Rabbitfish (Siganus unimaculatus)

The One Spot Foxface, also known as the Blotched Foxface, is renowned for its distinctive “eyespot” on its body. This species closely resembles the Foxface Lo, with the primary difference being the unique dark spot, which can vary from a nearly symmetrical circle to an irregular blotch, giving each fish a unique appearance. For optimal care, house the One Spot Foxface in a 70-gallon or larger aquarium. This fish is generally peaceful, though it may display aggression towards other rabbitfish. It can coexist with more aggressive fish, as predators typically avoid it due to its venomous dorsal spines. While rabbitfish are usually reef-safe when well-fed, they may nip at or consume certain LPS and soft coral polyps if not adequately nourished. The One Spot Foxface’s diet should consist of fresh vegetables and algae. Offer a variety of prepared herbivore foods rich in vegetable matter and supplement with algae sheets to help minimize potential damage to soft and hard coral polyps.
