Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon meleagris)

The Leopard Wrasse, also known as the Guinea Fowl Wrasse or Blackspotted Wrasse, exhibits distinct appearances based on gender. Females are primarily white, adorned with numerous black or brown irregular spots edged in white to blue, and may have yellow or tan accents on their fins. Males, in contrast, showcase an orangish-red background with green mottling throughout their bodies.

For optimal care, a **90-gallon or larger aquarium** with well-established live rock and a layer of live sand is recommended. These wrasses thrive best when introduced in groups of three or more. They primarily feed on small invertebrates, such as foraminiferans and amphipods, that grow on live rock.

A balanced diet for the Leopard Wrasse should include vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, along with other meaty foods, high-quality marine flakes, and pellets.
