Red Coris Wrasse (Juvenile) (Coris gaimard)

The Red Coris Wrasse, also known as the Clown Wrasse, Red Labrid, or Yellowtail Coris, is a vibrant addition to any saltwater aquarium. This species exhibits striking differences between juvenile and adult forms, with adults featuring a speckled blue body, colorful fins in yellow, red, and blue, and an orange face adorned with green stripes. They thrive in brightly lit tanks with ample hiding spots and swimming space. While multiple Red Coris Wrasses can be kept together, they may become territorial as they mature. These fish occasionally clean other fish by removing parasites and dead tissue, though this behavior is less common in adults. They should be fed 2-3 times daily with a mix of frozen brine shrimp, mysis, krill, and other meaty saltwater foods. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, the Red Coris Wrasse thrives in coral reefs and rocky environments with plenty of crevices. To replicate its natural habitat, create a similar environment in your aquarium. The Red Coris Wrasse is generally not reef-safe, as it may disturb corals and dig in the substrate, potentially harming your reef ecosystem.
