The Splendid Pintail Fairy Wrasse, found from Japan to the Philippines, thrives in the rubble areas of outer reefs. This peaceful species is a stunning addition to any reef aquarium, showcasing beautiful pastel shades of pink, yellow, and orange. Like other wrasses, males display enhanced color intensity during courtship, and their colors can shift depending on their mood.

This active and peaceful fish is well-suited for fish-only or reef aquariums of 90 gallons or larger. The Splendid Pintail Fairy Wrasse is reef-safe, meaning it won’t harm corals or invertebrates, making it an ideal choice for such setups. A single male can be housed with a group of females, which should be introduced simultaneously or before the male. Since these wrasses are known to jump, a secure canopy is highly recommended.

A balanced diet for the Splendid Pintail Fairy Wrasse should include vitamin-enriched frozen mysis shrimp, frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods, along with high-quality marine flakes and pellets. Given their active nature, they should be fed several times a day.
