Sunset Wrasse (Thalassoma lutescens)

The Sunset Wrasse, also known by several common names including Banana Wrasse, Lime Green Wrasse, and Yellow-brown Wrasse, is a striking fish characterized by its unique green facial markings and vibrant yellow, brown, and green striping across its body.

Like other wrasse species, it requires a tank with a securely sealed lid to prevent escapes, as well as plenty of live rock for hiding and a sandy substrate for foraging. The Sunset Wrasse is an active species, frequently exploring live rock structures and hunting bristle worms. It thrives on a diet consisting of meaty saltwater foods, such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, krill, and clams, and should be fed 2-3 times daily.

Embark on a vibrant journey with the Sunset Wrasse, a marine jewel that enchants with its dazzling colors. Here’s a detailed overview of this remarkable species, covering its habitat, compatibility, size, sexual dimorphism, lifespan, dietary needs, and more. Originating from the warm waters of the Indo-Pacific region, the Sunset Wrasse captivates with its brilliant coloration and lively presence.
