Red Breasted Maori Wrasse (Cheilinus fasciatus)

The Red-Breast Wrasse, also known as the Redbreasted Maori Wrasse, is a stunning and somewhat elusive addition to any marine aquarium, guaranteed to impress your fellow reef enthusiasts. With its impressive size, this wrasse features six or seven white vertical stripes against a reddish-brown body, complemented by vibrant yellow-orange highlights around the pectoral fin.

Although the Red-Breast Wrasse can grow quite large, it is generally a shy species and should be housed in a spacious aquarium with other non-aggressive fish to prevent bullying. They are known to sift through sand in search of food, feeding on hard-shelled invertebrates and occasionally small fish.

In the wild, Red-Breast Wrasses are often found solitary in lagoons and inner reefs, along reef edges and rubble piles, frequently resting on the seabed. To mimic their natural diet, offer a prepared plankton-based food.
