Spotted Sweetlips -Adult
Spotted Sweetlips -Adult (Plectorhinchus chaetodonoides)
The Spotted Sweetlips, also known as the Clown Sweetlips or Harlequin Sweetlips, undergoes a notable color transformation as it matures. Juveniles exhibit a brown base adorned with large white dots and darker edges, while adults display a striking white body with black dots.
This species requires a substantial aquarium of at least 500 gallons due to its rapid growth—nearly three feet in length. A larger tank is essential to provide ample swimming space and plenty of hiding spots. In a reef environment, Spotted Sweetlips will feed on smaller crustaceans, fireworms, serpent stars, small snails, and polychaete worms.
When first introduced to the aquarium, it’s best to offer live saltwater feeder shrimp to encourage feeding. Once acclimated, it will accept a variety of marine carnivore diets.
