Annularis Angelfish (Juvenile)
Annularis Angelfish (Pomacanthus annularis)
The Annularis Angelfish, known by alternative names such as the Blue Ring Angelfish and Blue King Angelfish, boasts striking sapphire stripes adorning its primarily brown body, complemented by a whitish-blue tail.
To accommodate a single Annularis, a tank with a minimum capacity of 220 gallons is essential. It is advisable to create ample hiding spots with caves and live rock for grazing. However, potential owners should exercise caution, as this species has a tendency to nip at sessile invertebrates like nudibranchs, corals, and tridacnid clams, making it unsuitable for a reef environment. The Annularis Angelfish is categorized as semi-aggressive and may establish territorial behavior after acclimating to the tank.
All Angelfish are characterized as hermaphroditic, and distinguishing between males and females is not visually possible.
A well-rounded diet for the Annularis Angelfish should encompass vegetables, meats, and angelfish food containing spongiform products. Initially, live foods such as brine shrimp or freshly chopped seafood may be necessary to entice the fish to eat.
