Bicolor Parrotfish
Bicolor Parrotfish (Cetoscarus bicolor)
The Bicolor Parrotfish undergoes a striking color transformation as it matures. Juveniles display a white body with an orange band across the face and orange coloration on the dorsal and caudal fins. In contrast, adults have a vibrant blue body with a spotted face and additional colors on their fins. The name “Parrotfish” refers to their distinctive mouth, where the teeth are fused into a beak-like structure resembling that of a parrot.
Due to its size, a minimum 300-gallon aquarium is essential, providing ample swimming space. The tank should include live rock and hard corals (skeletons are acceptable). The Bicolor Parrotfish feeds on algae from corals and rocks and may also chew on hard corals to access the organisms within.
Supplement its diet with a variety of herbivore preparations, flaked foods, and meaty offerings to ensure balanced nutrition.
