Black Snowflake Clownfish
Black Snowflake Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)
The Captive-Bred Black Snowflake Clownfish is an exciting new strain, developed by crossing Black Ice Snowflake Clownfish with Black Ocellaris Clownfish over several generations. This breeding has resulted in a stunning variety of Black Ocellaris with distinct and varied white patterns. Each Black Snowflake Clownfish displays a unique pattern, and while it starts as a bright orange fish, it gradually darkens to its final black coloration over its first year, with some individuals retaining traces of orange on their faces.
As a captive-bred species, the Black Snowflake Clownfish is an excellent choice for saltwater aquarium enthusiasts. These fish are hardy and well-adapted to home aquarium conditions.
Breeding Black Snowflake Clownfish at home is relatively straightforward. The females will be the larger fish in the pair, and the two typically stay close together. Clownfish lay their eggs on flat surfaces and protect them from tank mates. The eggs hatch in about 8 to 11 days, depending on water temperature. The fry should be raised in a separate tank and fed a diet of rotifers followed by baby brine shrimp.
