Blue Spot Jawfish

Blue Spot Jawfish (Opistognathus rosenblatti) 

The Blue Dot Jawfish, also known as the Bluespotted Jawfish, was first identified in the Tropical Eastern Pacific in 1991 by Allen and Robertson. This vibrant fish is adorned with bright, eye-catching colors in shades of yellow, orange, and blue, complemented by iridescent, irregularly shaped blue spots that extend along its head and body.

For optimal care, the Blue Dot Jawfish requires a well-established 30-gallon or larger aquarium with ample live rock and a substrate of fine to moderately sized sand, at least 3 inches deep, for burrowing. A secure canopy is essential to prevent the fish from jumping out. While generally peaceful with other fish, the Blue Dot Jawfish can be territorial and may fight with others of its kind unless they are a mated pair.

Feed the Blue Dot Jawfish a varied diet of marine fish, crustacean flesh, and mysid shrimp, providing food at least three times a day.
