Citron Clown Goby
Citron Clown Goby (Gobiodon citrinus)
The Citrinis Clown Goby, also known as the Citron or Citrin Goby, is commonly found in the reefs of Sri Lanka and the Coral Sea. This small, vibrant yellow fish features blue vertical lines around the eyes and gills, and a blue horizontal stripe along the dorsal fin. Its color can range from dark brown to pale yellow. Peaceful by nature, it is an excellent addition to a reef aquarium with polyp and soft corals, where it enjoys swimming and hiding among the polyps. In the wild, the Citrinis Clown Goby feeds on the mucous polyps of Acropora sp. and is generally reef-safe, though it may nip at the polyps or bases of Acropora sp. and potentially other SPS corals. In SPS-dominated tanks with less mature colonies, it could cause significant damage. This species thrives in aquariums of 10 gallons or larger and prefers branched corals, often resting on them for extended periods.
