Dash-Dot Goatfish
Dash-Dot Goatfish (Parupeneus barberinus)
The Yellow Back Goatfish, also known as the Dash and Dot, Half and Half Goatfish, or Swarthy-headed Goatfish, is a relatively new but increasingly popular choice in the aquarium hobby. If you’re seeking something distinctive, the Yellow Back Goatfish offers a vibrant presence with its energetic behavior. These lively fish bring dynamic activity to the aquarium as they actively patrol the sand bed, foraging for food and adding a unique touch to your setup. For optimal care, it’s recommended to house the Yellow Back Goatfish in a well-established aquarium of at least 125 gallons. The tank should provide ample swimming space and include rockwork with several hiding spots. A moderate substrate layer is essential, allowing the goatfish to use its barbels to sift through the sand in search of invertebrates, small crustaceans, and worms.
