Flagtail Tilefish (Malacanthus brevirostris)

Flagtail Tilefish, commonly known as the Quaker fish, flagtail blanquillo, false whiting, or stripetail tilefish, is a species of marine ray-finned fish in the tilefish family. It is widely distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

Flagtail Tilefish have a long, slender body with a rounded head and a prominent sharp spine at the center of the gill cover. Its coloration is generally grayish with a yellow tint on the head, featuring distinct chevron-shaped bars along the back. The caudal fin has two converging black stripes, one on each lobe. The dorsal fin comprises 1-4 spines and 52-56 soft rays, while the anal fin contains a single spine and 46-55 soft rays. This species can grow up to a maximum length of 32 cm (13 in), with a more typical standard length of about 25.6 cm (10.1 in).
