Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhites armatus)

The Flame Hawkfish, also known as the Brilliant Hawkfish, features a striking red body with dark markings along its dorsal fin and around its eyes. This personable fish is well-suited for reef aquariums, provided there are no small shrimp in the tank.

It requires a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with ample live rock for structure and hiding spots. Generally peaceful, the Flame Hawkfish enjoys perching and swimming among hard corals. However, caution is advised when introducing it to tanks with small bottom-dwelling gobies and blennies, as it may interfere with these species. Flame Hawkfish are bottom dwellers and often perch on rocks, ready to snatch passing food.

Their diet should include a variety of marine meats, frozen preparations, and live feeder shrimp.
