Forktail (Harptail) Blenny
Forktail Blenny (Meiacanthus atrodorsalis)
The Forktail Blenny, also known as the Lyretail Fang Blenny or Yellowtail Fang Blenny, features a fork-like caudal fin with two long outer spines and five shorter middle spines. Its pale blue body transitions like watercolor into a bluish-yellow tail. Males are typically larger than females and undergo color changes during breeding.
A minimum tank size of 30 gallons with live rock for hunting and grazing is required for the Forktail Blenny. It is best to keep only one per tank unless maintaining a breeding pair. Caution is advised due to its venomous bite, which can be painful and pose a risk to children who may have access to the tank.
