Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish
Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish (Dendrochirus brachypterus)
The Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish, also known as the Shortfin Lionfish or simply the Dwarf Lionfish, features striking red, white, and black vertical stripes along its body, complemented by large, fan-like pectoral fins and tall, quill-like dorsal fins. Its name, “Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish,” reflects the full, fluffy appearance of its fins. A suitable habitat for the Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish includes a 50-gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of hiding spots. During the acclimation period, it may seek refuge in its new environment. Its dorsal spines are venomous and can cause reactions similar to, but more intense than, a bee sting. The Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish is known for its personable nature and will quickly recognize and respond to its owner’s presence.
