Gladiator Clownfish (Aphiprion Ocellaris)

Gladiator Clownfish, also known as DaVinci or Fancy Clownfish, are renowned for their stunning coloration. This Ocellaris Clownfish variety, first bred by the acclaimed breeder Bill Addison, stands out due to its distinctive white bands that curve upwards and blend in a brush-stroke pattern. Unlike Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish, which exhibit a more chaotic white pattern, the Premium Gladiator Clownfish maintains bold, clean blocks of orange accented with black striping. The increased white coloration of the Premium Gladiator creates a dramatic and eye-catching effect.

These clownfish are not only visually striking but also contribute to the preservation of fragile reef ecosystems. Their resilience and adaptation to aquarium conditions make them an excellent choice for both beginners and seasoned aquarists. They can be kept with other captive-bred clownfish if introduced correctly.

Breeding these clownfish at home is straightforward. The female is typically larger, and the pair will stay close together. They lay their eggs on a smooth surface and guard them from tankmates. The eggs usually hatch in 6 to 11 days, depending on water temperature. Fry should be raised in a separate tank and fed a diet of rotifers followed by baby brine shrimp.

Premium Gladiator Clownfish are enthusiastic eaters, thriving on a variety of meaty foods and frozen herbivore preparations. Approximate purchase sizes are Small (¾” to 1½”) and Large (1½” to 2½”).
