Gold Saddle Hogfish (Bodianus bilunulatus)

The Gold Saddle Hogfish (Bodianus bilunulatus), also known as the Blackspot Wrasse, Crescent-Banded Hogfish, Tarry Hogfish, or Tuxedo Hogfish, exhibits notable differences in appearance between its juvenile and adult stages.In its juvenile stage, the Gold Saddle Hogfish features a white to silver forebody with a yellow face extending to the mid-dorsal area. A distinct black band runs from the mid-dorsal region to the caudal area, which is white with a translucent caudal fin. This juvenile coloration gives the fish its nickname, Tuxedo Hogfish.
