(Harbor) Sleeper Banded Goby (Amblygobius phalaena)

The Sleeper Banded Goby, also known as the Brownbarred Goby or Bullet Goby, was first described in the Indo-Pacific Ocean by Valenciennes in 1837. It features a greenish-yellow head adorned with blue and orange spots and stripes, while its body is yellow with brown bands. This goby should be housed in a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with a substrate of loose coral rubble and a secure lid to prevent escape. It is generally non-aggressive towards other fish but can be territorial with its own species unless they are a mated pair. The Sleeper Banded Goby feeds on tiny crustaceans and filamentous algae in the substrate. In the aquarium, provide a varied diet including vitamin-enriched brine shrimp (live or frozen), mysis shrimp, herbivore preparations, and nori strips if there is a lack of macroalgae. It should be fed three times a day, depending on the natural food available in the tank.
