Joculator Angelfish (Centropyge joculator)

The Joculator Angelfish, also known as the Yellowhead Angelfish (Centropyge joculator), is an exquisite dwarf marine angelfish primarily found in the Christmas Islands and Cocos-Keeling Islands in the Eastern Indian Ocean. Distinguished by its vibrant colors, this angelfish bears resemblance to the Bicolor Angelfish (Centropyge bicolor) but lacks the characteristic vertical blue bar above the eye. Instead, the Joculator Angelfish features a captivating blue ring encircling its eyes, with the same electric blue hue outlining the edges of its dorsal and anal fins.

Hardy and capable of reaching sizes of 3 inches or more, the Joculator Angelfish thrives in a well-established marine aquarium of at least 70 gallons, adorned with ample live rock and open swimming spaces.

Caution is advised when keeping the Joculator Angelfish with corals and clams, as it may exhibit a tendency to nip at them during feeding. Furthermore, this angelfish is intolerant of conspecifics, making it unsuitable for cohabitation with similar-looking species like the Bicolor Angelfish or Rock Beauty Angelfish.

Feeding the Joculator Angelfish 2 to 3 times daily with enriched frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, spirulina, and a high-quality prepared marine angelfish diet is recommended to discourage coral or clam mantle nipping.
