Leopard Goby
Leopard Goby (Thorogobius ephippiatus)
This species is commonly found along the Atlantic coasts, from the Skagerrak to Madeira, and extends into the Mediterranean. It prefers vertical rock faces with crevices for hiding and can occasionally be seen in deep tide pools. The leopard-spotted goby grows to about 12-13 cm in length. It features a pale fawn or light brown body adorned with distinctive orange, red, or black spots covering its head and body. It has two dorsal fins, with a notable black spot at the rear of the first dorsal fin. Its eyes are positioned close together near the top of the head, and it displays the thick lips typical of gobies.
