Maroon Clownfish
Maroon Clownfish (Amphiprion biaculeatus)
The maroon clownfish, scientifically known as (Amphiprion biaculeatus), is a species of anemonefish that, despite its name, isn’t always maroon in color. While females can display a maroon hue, males and juveniles typically exhibit the more familiar “clownfish orange.”
This species is one of the larger clownfish, with females growing up to 6 inches in length, while males remain much smaller, usually not exceeding half that size.
Like many other clownfish species, maroon clownfish populations can vary significantly in color and pattern. Some wild populations even feature yellow body stripes, a characteristic unique to this species.
