Blue Girdled (Navarchus) Angelfish
Navarchus Angelfish (Pomacanthus navarchus)
The Majestic Angelfish (Navarchus Angel), also known as the Blue Girdled Angelfish, boasts yellow scales with blue margins and a distinctive dark blue band, or girdle, that extends across the face and backward, accentuated with neon blue edges.
While somewhat reserved, this angelfish is among the more manageable species. It thrives in a tank of 180 gallons or more, equipped with multiple hiding spots and live rock for grazing. Not well-suited for reef environments, the Blue Girdled Angelfish tends to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. However, it generally avoids causing harm to small-polyped stony corals and somewhat noxious soft corals.
Diet-wise, the Blue Girdled Angelfish benefits from a mix that includes vegetable matter like Spirulina and marine algae, along with meaty items such as mysis shrimp and high-quality angelfish preparations containing sponges.
