Neon Dottyback
Neon Dottyback (Pseudochromis aldabraensis)
The Neon Dottyback is a striking marine fish with a vibrant yellow/orange body and vivid neon blue stripes on its dorsal fin, gill cover, and tail. Once commonly imported from the Persian Gulf, this species is now rarely collected from the wild, making the captive-bred variety a valuable and popular choice.
To ensure its well-being, house the Neon Dottyback in a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with ample hiding spots. It thrives best with moderately aggressive larger fish and may prey on ornamental shrimp but excels at controlling bristleworm populations in reef tanks.
Feed the Neon Dottyback a varied diet tailored for carnivores, including foods like vitamin-enriched brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. In a reef setup, it should be fed once daily.
