Orange Shoulder Tang (Acanthurus olivaceus) 

The Orangeshoulder Tang is a striking addition to any aquarium. Juveniles display a vibrant yellow color with a subtle hint of blue on the anal and dorsal fins. As they mature, their coloration transitions: the front half turns light gray while the back half takes on a dark gray-blue hue. A distinctive orange stripe above the pectoral fins adds to its appeal, and the tail features a unique lyre shape. To thrive, the Orangeshoulder Tang requires a spacious aquarium of at least 180 gallons, providing ample swimming room. It is generally non-aggressive towards other tangs, but when introducing multiple individuals, it’s best to add a juvenile to an established tank with an adult. While Tangs enjoy meaty foods, it’s crucial to include plenty of marine-based seaweed and algae in their diet to boost their immune system, minimize aggression, and enhance overall health. Offer dried seaweed secured to a rock or using a veggie clip, feeding at least three times a week.
