Orange Stripe Cardinalfish (Sphaeramia nematoptera)

The Captive-Bred Pajama Cardinalfish showcases a vibrant array of colors. It features a greenish-yellow face, bright orange eyes, and a silver-based body adorned with bold black markings and orange polka dots. Despite its striking coloration, the Sphaeramia nematoptera has a peaceful nature that makes it a perfect addition to any community saltwater aquarium.

For optimal care, the Pajama Cardinalfish should be kept in small schools in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. As a slow and methodical swimmer, it should be housed with peaceful tankmates and provided with plenty of hiding places among rockwork or plants. Most Pajama Cardinalfish prefer to hide in sea grass or other plants and may camouflage themselves against long-spined sea urchins.

In small groups, the Pajama Cardinalfish will form a strict hierarchy, but unlike some social fish, it does not use aggression to assert dominance over other cardinalfish.

The Captive-Bred Pajama Cardinalfish should be fed a varied diet specifically designed for carnivores. If kept in a reef aquarium, it should be fed once per day.

Captive-Bred Pajama Cardinalfish have an advantage over wild-harvested species as they are hardier and more accustomed to conditions found in home aquariums. This makes them an excellent choice for both novice and experienced aquarists.
