Pixy/Spotted (Falco) Hawkfish (Cirrhitichthys falco)

The Falco Hawkfish is a striking species with a distinctive appearance, featuring a white body adorned with red-brown spots that run diagonally. It has small, bright yellow tufts at the tips of its dorsal fin rays, known as cirri. Often referred to as the Spotted Hawkfish, it should not be confused with Cirrhitichthys aprinus.

This hardy and aggressive fish thrives in a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with ample hiding spots. It should not be housed with larger, more aggressive hawkfish. Although it preys on small fish and shrimp, it can still be a great addition to a reef tank with proper precautions.

The Falco Hawkfish’s diet should include a variety of marine meats, frozen preparations, and live feeder shrimp.
