Pygmy (Cherub) Angelfish
Cherub Angelfish (Centropyge argi)
The Pygmy Angelfish, also known as the Cherubfish, Cherub Angelfish, or Atlantic Pygmy Angelfish, boasts a vibrant sapphire-blue hue with captivating orange highlights on the face. To accommodate this small yet aggressive angelfish, a tank of at least 55 gallons with ample hiding places and live rock for microalgae grazing is necessary. However, caution is advised, as it may exhibit coral-nipping behavior targeting large-polyped stony corals and clam mantles.
Given its territorial nature, it’s recommended to keep only one male Pygmy Angelfish per tank, as multiple males may engage in potentially fatal conflicts. Breeding pairs can be housed successfully, and there have been instances of successful breeding in aquariums.
Ensure a well-rounded diet for the Pygmy Angelfish, including Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. Feed them three times daily.
