Red Sea Eritrean Butterflyfish
Red Sea Eritrean Butterflyfish (Chaetodon paucifasciatus)
The Red Sea Eritrean Butterflyfish, also known as the Red Sea Chevron Butterflyfish or the Redback Butterflyfish, is a relatively hardy species that thrives in a peaceful aquarium environment. These fish have a white body adorned with numerous black vertical lines and a prominent red band covering their rear.
For optimal care, they should be housed in an aquarium of 70 gallons or larger, with plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing. They can be aggressive towards fish of similar size and shape, as well as towards others of their own species. Therefore, they are best kept in a peaceful tank with non-aggressive fish. It is important to note that this species is not considered reef safe.
Their diet should include dried seaweed, Spirulina-based foods, vitamin-enriched brine and mysis shrimp, and finely chopped meaty foods.
