Spotted (Target) Mandarin Goby (Synchiropus picturatus)

The Spotted Mandarin, also known as the Spotted Mandarinfish, Psychedelic Mandarinfish, Psychedelic Fish, or Picture Dragonet, was first discovered in the Western Pacific Ocean by Peters in 1976. This vibrant fish boasts a mesmerizing pattern of blue, orange, and black spots against a green base, with males having a more elongated first dorsal spine compared to females.

To thrive, the Spotted Mandarin needs a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with live substrate and ample hiding spots. It can adapt well to reef tanks with proper care but is generally not aggressive towards other fish, except for members of its own species.

Spawning in captivity is possible for the Spotted Mandarin.

For its diet, provide a variety of live, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp and black worms. The Spotted Mandarin also forages on natural prey found on live rock and sand.

For the best nourishment, we recommend feeding your Dragonettes AlgaGen Tisbe biminiensis.
