Steephead Parrotfish (Chlorurus strongylocephalus)
Steephead Parrotfish is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the parrotfish family Scaridae. This species is native to the Indian Ocean, where it inhabits coral reefs. Its range extends from the Gulf of Aden and Socotra along the East African coast down to Mozambique, and across the Indian Ocean to western Indonesia.
This species is commonly found on reefs at various depths. It features a square or slightly bulbous forehead, with females displaying a greenish-brown coloration, males exhibiting blue hues, and some rare individuals appearing reddish-brown. It can grow up to 28 inches in length and is distributed from Central Indonesia to Okinawa and Pitcairn but is not found in Hawaii.
