Yellowfin Tang
Yellowfin Tang (Acanthurus xanthopterus)
The Yellowfin Tang is the largest member of the Acanthurus genus, making it perfect for stunning displays in public aquariums. Its coloration changes significantly from juvenile to adult; young fish have bright yellow fins that transition to a muted purple as they grow. In the wild, Yellowfin Tangs inhabit waters between 3 to 300 feet deep. To thrive, they require a spacious, well-established aquarium filled with ample live rock for swimming and territory. These fish are also effective at controlling algae in saltwater and reef aquariums.
