Yellowtail Parrotfish (Sparisoma rubripinne)
Yellowtail Parrotfish is a medium-sized parrotfish, reaching a maximum length of 47.8 cm. Juveniles and initial-phase adults exhibit a muted silver-tan coloration with a barred pattern on their scales, featuring a bright yellow caudal peduncle and caudal fin. In contrast, terminal-phase males display a dull bluish-green hue with a prominent black spot at the base of their pectoral fin. Yellowtail Parrotfish thrives in coral reefs and seagrass meadows throughout the Western Atlantic Ocean, typically found at depths ranging from 1 to 15 meters.
